Christmas Rhyme

Christmas is that time of year
For friends and family and lots of cheer
But why this day and not another
I fear we are in a spot of bother

What do turkey, apples and ham?
Have to do with Bethlehem
Did Jesus set aside his troubles?
For perfume cars and soapy bubbles

Blowing cash and lots of credit
"Never again!" we always said it
Bills come flowing two weeks later
Then we become the credit card hater

On this day we eat and chatter
Over stuffed, but it doesn't matter
Singing carols with Christmas flavor
Whilst trying out a brand new shaver

In a flash it's said and done
Another year, almost gone
Promising to be so much better
Santa returns with the same old letter

So, Jesus were you born this day
Or was it really the middle of May?
No one knows for sure or certain
After all this drink I feel like a cretin
