Biography
I was born in Glasgow, Scotland on January 25th 1959 - the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great Robert Burns - just 20 miles from his home.
I left school at 17, and entered the world of commerce. I have controlled my own company since the tender age of 19. I am an entrepreneur, and I have had involvement in many ventures in different lands, over the past 25 years. My business now runs several offices all around the world and specializes in sourcing products from China, for companies like Disney and Nike. The organization and the travelling involved, is responsible for most of my poems inspired by the incredible experiences I have enjoyed throughout my life.
Having never written a word of poetry, during a visit to Half Moon Bay in California, whilst watching the waves, I felt the sudden impulse and inspiration to put down in words my overwhelming emotions and it was then I composed my first poem.
I have no idea why this happened; however, my poem 'Half Moon Bay' was well received by my friends, and was published. This gave me tremendous encouragement to continue to write about life's experiences. My poems have now appeared in numerous books including: Poets Revealed, Underneath the Stars, The Hearts Content, Love is Eternal and Tapestry of Thoughts to name but a few. I have been published in 22 languages and in 87 countries. My work has been recognized by Her Majesty Queen of England, sporting legend Sir Roger Bannister and British Prime Minister Tony Blair along with several other well known personalities.
My eyes and mind are forever open to what goes on around me. I enjoy the challenge of life, it is a constant source of inspiration, and not a day passes when one, sometimes two poems, are written to express my feelings on every day occurrence. Painting clear pictures with my words is my aim, and with understandable prose, I intend to create poetry that everyone can read, enjoy and most importantly, understand.
